hey everyone...just to piggyback off of the wedding vs birthdays...something i wanted to say for a while.
ok so we're not allowed to celebrate birthdays but we can have wedding celebrations.
the reason for not having birthdays and most other holidays is the pagan!!!

first of all, my heart aches for her and i am totally in love with her.
i helped her leave an abusive (15yr) marriage.
i am married but there is no affection, compassion, love, understanding....etc.
The advice given is consistent - those not involved and looking on it are not emotionally attached and can give honest and right advice. I will second all that been said, it seems so wrong to whats going on in your head right now i know, but believe me some of us are talking from experience (BITTER) we only want you to do whats best for all including yourself. Try to understand whats wrong in your own marriage first, does your wife know there is a problem? Can a counsellor help you? Can you live apart from your children? Think long and hard, remove the distraction of this relationship and then take your time to know what you want and how to proceed. You at one time must have liked your wife, what was it about her? Do you share any responsibility in they way she is towards you now? Do you communicate to her how you feel?
All the best and I hope you make some good choices

life after being a jw is so hard at times - i know many of you can relate to that.
i thought i'd share my experience with you all.
i've met two of the best mates i could ever have dreamt of, although they are quite a lot younger than me they have older heads upon young shoulders, and at the time we've met we're at similar places to each other.

I've met two of the best mates I could ever have dreamt of, although they are quite a lot younger than me they have older heads upon young shoulders, and at the time we've met we're at similar places to each other. I've known them over a year and we have built up a close friendship between the 3 of us, they genuinely look out for me as I stagger around still finding my feet outside of the cocoon. My life has become quite happy since gaining such friends, and although even recently i've had a few down episodes, i can really see the clouds lifting and life feeling better and having purpose again. You never know whats round the corner, but every now and again something good is coming.
I wish all of you true happiness and peace

Thanks for a very well researched comments Blondie!
It does seem to be a shame to be encouraged to give all your time to the WTS to gain new followers for them at the expense of your own financial security and job prospects. Its quite amusing seeing that a lot of Elders have good paying jobs, and yet how would they have accomplished that following such advice (directive). In my old congregation most had decent jobs (able to buy a home and support a family) why are these examples to the flock free from having to full time evangelise for the society? I bought into the 'being ordinary and unlettered' and now struggle financially at my manual labour jobs. It seems a case of hook them while they are young and forever they will serve.

warning: don't read this if you are easily depressed!.
here's how it is for me right now - no frills:.
its pants, sh*t, black, doom, gloom and don't spare the melancholy (pronounced mel-ankley if you are me).. what's brought this on?
As is so often with me I discover threads on this site later than I wish I did. Talking to you Nina, I just knew ther'd be a thread about it - and thats so good cause you can speak your mind, and then see how much the people care about you and give such great advice - the sort of thing that you have done for me so very often hun.
I totally understand where your coming from, as you know from the things i've been through. we share some experiences. How does that help? Well its simply that your not alone, its not just you and you alone that feels this way and struggles to cope and find meaning in life, the good thing about that is it shows your normal, a human experiencing the normal high's and lows of life.
Where can you go from here? My experience tells me you just get through days and then weeks and then months and years, and after a while you realise the feelings have died down or even evaporated. There isnt a quick fix or cure, just the passage of time and new things coming into your life, other distractions and opportunitys, new friendships, challenges and goals.
When Gary commented on one of my threads, do you remember he said simply to put your bag of bricks down (your fears, stresses, deppresion and problems), stop carrying them around with you, they are still there and you can go back to them if and when you choose, but they no longer weigh you down. Now of course after he'd told me that, I still posted how I felt and then he said I was making a bloody building site with my bricks - now the point was expremely funny but at the same time making a fantastic point to me. So make sure you minimise the negative feelings and work on letting it go. But dont beat yourself up if you just need a good cry, tears can be good for you too.
Take really good care
And i'm in line after free2think to give you another 2 hugs on saturday ok.

do not put apart what god has yoked together.
therefore, what god has yoked together let no man put apart.
(b) why do the principles found in god's word really work, even when problems arise in a marriage?.
Thanks Blondie! I didnt have as much time to look at everything in detail, but one thing that stood out to me was the use of the verse:
Jesus warned: "Everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."-Matthew 5:28.
If that is read in context with all the NT scripture, its saying even if you dont commit the actual sin, you might as well have because of your fleshly desires. It shows why Jesus came to do away with law, and true christians were to be living by grace. It also shows if you dont submit to becoming christian, you will still be under law and condemed to die for your sins, which is the position of the majority of JW's who work hard to follow mens rules and yet will ultimately fail as they reject Jesus, and wont become annointed.

my ex came back from the convention and the subject came up of familiy, marriage etc...i asked, how they believe marriage family etc will stand in "paradise"...do they believe earthly marriages will still be valid and mates will still be together, or is that annuled!!
!..also, whether families now will once again be families then..he didnt seem to be sure.. just out of interest, could anybody shed some light on the witness beliefs on this?.
thanks.
This is a great topic because its an area where the JW's doctrine flies in the face of biblical meaning, of course Jesus was talking about going to heaven, therefore these ones would be as angels. This subject is probably little talked about and glossed over as there is no satisfactory explaination - other than the typical God will make it ok in his own way.

indeed, when we read the bible and let it guide .
q8) what scriptural principles help us to reason on the matter of associations?.
god's word be a lamp to our foot.
Thanks again Blondie for your thoughts and comments. It amazes me how its encouraged that R & F should read the Bible and think on it, its like what if they see the inconsistancy of the doctrines? But then I remember the constant repeating of those doctrine's and then suddenly you only see what you want to see in the Bible. Your agenda (WTS idea's) are seen and stand out to you, you bury and ignore things that dont add up.

Cheers for another thought provoking review Blondie!
There were lots of occasions where they use their own JW added terms like GB, and suggest thats what its says in scripture, to most dubs it sounds right and reinforces that fabrication, its said so often its become 'truth' now. Its no wonder it takes so long for your mind to break free of that type of manipulation. I'm sure its very obvious for onlookers to realise its all BS, and thats probably why they intend to go under ground with their cult members only edition in the future. I'm glad I can see it for what it is, but equally feel very frustrated for those I know who still buy it.

so i'm going to see madam bootylicious herself in concert in a couple of hours and i just thought i'd share this with you lovely people and ask your opinion.
it has been said that she has become over exposed of late, as she seems to be everywhere.
i don't think so personally, i say good luck to her.
I liked her as foxy in the Austin Powers movie. I think she's best viewed with the sound down
